The winner of the US presidential election, Donald Trump, has told his advisers that he wants to travel to China after taking office, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA, referring to a publication in the “Wall Street Journal“.
Trump has expressed interest in traveling to China during his first 100 days in office, the newspaper said, citing a source familiar with the discussions.
He takes office tomorrow, and Chinese state news agencies reported on Friday that Chinese Vice President Han Zheng would attend the ceremony, as Beijing is ready to strengthen cooperation.
Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, through their representatives, have discussed the possibility of a personal meeting, with one option involving the future US president inviting the Chinese leader to the United States, the Wall Street Journal added.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment, Reuters noted.
