Trump imposes 25% tariff on all goods from Mexico and Canada from February 1 - 1

US President Donald Trump said that he is considering imposing a 25% tariff on all goods coming from Canada and Mexico from February 1, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

"We are considering a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada because they let a lot of people (...) come in (to the US), and also a lot of fentanyl", Trump said at the White House, hours after taking office.

He explained that the tariffs were being considered to take effect from February 1.

During his presidential election campaign, Trump promised to impose a 25% tariff on all goods coming from Mexico and Canada if these countries did not cut off the flow of drugs and migrants to the United States.

Mexico and Canada are theoretically protected by a free trade agreement signed during Trump's first term, which he called "the best possible".
