At least 10 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the northern West Bank, Palestinian authorities reported, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

The Israeli military said it had carried out an airstrike on a group of armed militants in the West Bank town of Tamun, but did not provide further details.

According to the Palestinian authorities, an Israeli drone fired three missiles at a house.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah reported 10 deaths, and the Red Crescent said there were also injuries, some of them serious.

The airstrike comes a little more than a week after the Israeli army launched a large-scale military operation in the city of Jenin, which is also located in the northern West Bank.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met yesterday with US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, the Israeli prime minister's office reported, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The agency notes that this is taking place against the backdrop of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and diplomatic pressure from countries in the region.

Israeli media reported that Witkoff also visited Gaza yesterday to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement there. US President Donald Trump hopes it will develop into a broader regional agreement that includes normalising relations and establishing diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Trump's Middle East envoy has previously visited Saudi Arabia.

Netanyahu has long sought to forge ties with Riyadh. The Israeli prime minister is due to meet Trump in Washington on February 4, when talks on the next phase of a three-phase ceasefire in Gaza will take place.

An Israeli government spokesman declined to give any details about Witkoff's visit to the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.
