Employees of the radio station „Voice of America“ have filed a lawsuit against the administration of US President Donald Trump, calling the shutdown of the media outlet “unlawful”, the Washington Post reports.
It is noted that the lawsuit was filed by six employees of the media outlet, including the former White House bureau chief of VOA. They demand that part of Trump's order be reversed and the media outlet be returned to work.
„What is happening is a government shutdown of journalism, a preemptive restriction that kills content before it can even be created,“ the lawsuit says.
On March 15 It became known that employees of the Voice of America were forced to take leave. The reason for this was Trump's order to reduce the functions of several departments, including the Agency for Global Media (USAGM). Employees of the American radio station were also denied access to government institutions, including the White House.
