The US authorities deported a group of 21 Venezuelan migrants to the Guantanamo military base.
They are suspected of links to the largest Latin American criminal group, the Tren de Aragua, reports ABC News, citing a source familiar with the situation.
The journalists specified that the migrants were sent to the base in Cuba on Thursday, March 20. At the same time, the US authorities did not provide evidence that the deportees were actually connected to the said gang.
Previously, migrants temporarily housed in Guantanamo Bay complained of overcrowding, limited access to fresh air, and the inability to contact lawyers.
In the future, the US Department of Defense, together with other departments, plans to speed up the resolution of the issue of deportation of migrants.
It also became known that the redevelopment of the golf course at the naval base in Guantanamo Bay will allow the accommodation of six thousand illegal immigrants.
