US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink is resigning amid growing disagreements with both US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, the Financial Times reports, citing people familiar with her decision.
However, her disagreements with Zelensky were not the basis for her resignation.
The newspaper's sources add that the head of the diplomatic mission has been under increasing pressure from senior officials in the Trump administration, who have questioned her willingness to support their strategy towards Ukraine.
In addition, as the publication notes, the tension between Brink and Zelensky has recently "become apparent".
The newspaper cites statements by Ukrainian officials about the ambassador's overly critical attitude towards them, especially in the context of anti-corruption activities.
Last night, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce announced that Brink was returning home.
Previously, US media reported that Brink planned to resign due to "an unusual combination of personal and political issues", including recent cuts at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
