Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with US President Donald Trump today, the Anadolu Agency reported.
Erdogan stated that Turkey will continue to work to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in many areas, especially in the defense sector, the Anadolu Agency noted.
The Turkish president also stressed that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has reached frightening levels, expressing Turkey's readiness to send humanitarian aid to those affected.
Trump stated that he and Erdogan had a “very fruitful and valuable conversation” regarding the war in Ukraine, Syria and Gaza, Anadolu Agency and Reuters reported.
The US president said the Turkish leader would come to Washington and that Erdogan had invited him to visit Turkey, Reuters reported.
"I look forward to working with President Erdogan to end the ridiculous but deadly war between Russia and Ukraine - NOW!", Trump wrote on social media, quoted by Reuters.
