Moscow and Kiev want to end the war in Ukraine. This was stated by former US President Donald Trump, quoted by Reuters, indicating that with the drop in oil prices, Russian President Vladimir Putin is more inclined to accept a peace agreement, News.bg reports.

The price of crude oil, the main engine of the Russian economy, has fallen by about $ 15 per barrel since the beginning of the year. In the meantime, OPEC + is expected to accelerate oil production.

“We've come a long way. We hope something will happen“, commented Trump. He has repeatedly stressed his desire to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which began in 2022.

Trump said that Vladimir Putin had proposed a three-day ceasefire to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union and its allies over Nazi Germany in World War II. According to him, this offer was “generous”, especially in the context of the difficult negotiations.

According to him, the number of deaths in the conflict is significantly higher than officially announced by the media. Neither Russia nor Ukraine publish current and reliable data on the victims.

The Kremlin announced that a meeting between Trump and Putin in Saudi Arabia is not planned, but stressed that such a meeting would be necessary. Putin has no planned trips to the region in May, while Trump has said he plans to visit Saudi Arabia in the same period.

Regarding the 2022 Nord Stream gas pipeline bombings, Trump has expressed doubt that Russia was behind the attack. "I think a lot of people know who blew them up," he said. American media outlets such as the New York Times, The Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal have reported that Ukrainian elements may have been involved. However, Kiev has repeatedly denied involvement, while Russia has blamed Western powers, including the United States and Britain, but without publicly providing evidence.
