Early this morning, the Indian armed forces launched Operation “Sindoor”, striking nine targets in Pakistan. The Islamic Republic has vowed to respond with a disproportionate strike.
Reuters reported multiple explosions near the city of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
The Indian government later said its army had struck nine targets in Pakistan-controlled areas of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
New Delhi says the strikes were carried out exclusively on military targets and that Pakistan is once again violating the ceasefire agreement.
The Indian army called the strike against Pakistan a "triumph of justice". Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the action by the country's armed forces.
Indian defence ministry officials said they had deployed all air defence forces along the border.
According to ANI, the Indian armed forces struck targets in Pakistan from their territory using precision weapons from all three branches of the armed forces. Four of the nine targets hit were said to be in Pakistan and the rest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
