The Indian armed forces destroyed nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled parts of Kashmir in a nearly 25-minute operation launched on the basis of reliable intelligence, senior Indian military officials said at a press conference, PTI reported, quoted by BTA.
The strikes were carried out tonight between 1:05 and 1:30 a.m. local time as part of Operation "Sindoor". The aim was to provide justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families, said Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force, Byomika Singh, and Colonel Sophia Qureshi, who is leading Operation Sindoor.
"India has shown considerable restraint in its response. However, the Indian armed forces are fully prepared to respond to any malicious action by the Pakistani army," Singh added.
India launched a missile strike on Pakistan overnight, saying it was targeting nine terror targets. Earlier in the day, Pakistani forces said there were 24 strikes and that six were targeting civilian targets, killing eight and injuring 35. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated when 26 tourists were killed in late April in the Indian part of Kashmir, and Delhi blamed Pakistan for the attack. Islamabad has rejected the allegations.
Earlier today, Pakistan called on the international community to "recognize the seriousness of India's illegal and unprovoked actions and hold it accountable".
