Zakharova: Trump's words about the leading role of the US in the Victory reveal his pain that America is no longer great

The US people have practically lost knowledge of their own history and the country's role in World War II.

This was stated to TASS by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

„Whether the US ambassador will come to the Victory Parade or not, ask her“, Zakharova replied.

„I will note something else, what everyone saw, the very sharp reaction of US President Trump to the agenda, to the news related to the anniversary of the Victory, the preparations of various countries.

The diplomat drew attention to the messages that the US president published on social networks on this issue. "Many considered them a distortion of historical reality. Many considered them exaggerated", Zakharova recalled. "I never had the opportunity to discuss this with anyone from his closest circle, but I was also really surprised by such a sharp reaction. You probably remember that I responded with quotes from Roosevelt, the US president at the time, to Trump's statements that it was the US that played, from his point of view, the decisive role in the Victory.“

Zakharova noted that she cited direct quotes from Roosevelt, who spoke about the decisive contribution of the Soviet Union.

„For several days I thought about why he said this. And it seems to me that it is also possible that this is part of his inner pain from the fact that the US has ceased to be great, including in its knowledge of its own history. Perhaps he is trying to attract the attention of Americans who no longer know anything about World War II, or the role of the United States in it, or the key battles, or the geography of World War II. Perhaps this is an attempt he is making in other areas to pull America out of a monstrous crisis into which it has been pushed for decades by ultraliberals."

„After all, there were capitulations of Germany, there was an anti-Hitler coalition, and there was an alliance, and there was Tehran, and there was Nuremberg later. All this happened, and this, of course, is historical. But it seems to me that he treats all this hypertrophied, because the United States, I mean the general mass of the population, has lost all knowledge of its own history and World War II,“, the diplomat summarized.

“Under the Biden administration, the United States began to tear down monuments to those who founded America. "You remember, there was a special campaign to demolish monuments, I think they even reached Columbus," she added.

Western countries use Russophobia as a tool for political pressure, substitution of concepts and attempts to falsify the results of World War II. This is stated in the preface of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova to the book by Italian journalist Vincenzo Lorusso De russophobia.

„Russophobia is not a spontaneous emotion, but a tool for political pressure, justification of aggression, substitution of concepts and deformation of memory. It becomes a convenient justification both for revisionist attempts to falsify the results of World War II, and for active censorship of modern Russian culture. It is striking that the same institutions that recently postulated the goal of preserving democracy and pluralism of opinions are involved in this process,“ the diplomat noted.
