Moscow is expecting a response from the addressees of Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to resume negotiations with the Ukrainian side in Istanbul, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told TASS, BTA reports.
"Let's wait for the reaction of those to whom the negotiations were offered", Zakharova said.
At a press conference in the Kremlin tonight, Putin proposed to Kiev to resume direct negotiations that were interrupted at the end of 2022 without preconditions. The dialogue is proposed to begin on May 15 in Istanbul.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the Russian president's proposal for direct negotiations with the Kiev authorities confirms the real intention to find a peaceful solution.
Putin's advisor Yuri Ushakov also took a stand on this issue, telling Channel One that negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul should take into account the real situation and what was achieved in the negotiations in 2022.
