At least 21 people have died in a serious chain accident in central Mexico, the BBC reported, News.bg reports.
The accident occurred on the highway between Cuacnopalán and Oaxaca, in the state of Puebla. Three vehicles were involved in the accident: a tanker truck, a van and a bus.
Eighteen people died on the spot, and three more died later in hospital. The injured were given emergency medical care.
According to initial information, the accident was caused by an attempt to overtake. The tanker first hit the bus, then collided head-on with a van. The collision caused the tanker to fall into a ravine and burst into flames.
Mexico has seen a number of serious road accidents in recent years. In February 2025, dozens of people died in a bus crash in the southern state of Tabasco.
