Austria won the 69th edition of the "Eurovision" song contest in the Swiss city of Basel, world agencies reported, quoted by BTA.
Opera singer JJ with the emotional song Wasted Love is the first representative of Austria to triumph at "Eurovision" since Conchita Wurst won in 2014.
The biggest music competition this year was followed by over 160 million people worldwide.
Second place at "Eurovision" went to Israeli singer Yuval Raphael and her song New Day Will Rise.
The 24-year-old performer JJ combined elements of opera and techno in his song Wasted Love, winning the hearts of the jury and the audience.
"This is beyond my wildest dreams", said the singer, whose real name is Johannes Pich.
His success was applauded by Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, who said JJ was making music history.
"Dear JJ, you moved Europe with your voice and "sang" Austria into the spotlight," wrote Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger on the social network "Ex" (X).
Switzerland won the right to host this year's "Eurovision" after Swiss artist Nemo won last year's edition of the contest in Malmö, Sweden.
