Russia must continue to strengthen its position in the global arms market by increasing arms exports, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, quoted by Reuters and TASS, BTA reports.
The military-industrial complex needs more state support to develop its potential, Putin added in his comments broadcast on television.
Moscow maintains its leading positions in the global arms market, remaining in the top five and maintaining its leading export positions in many areas, Putin added at a meeting of the commission on military-technical cooperation, the first in 5 years. According to him, this "once again confirms the quality, reliability and effectiveness" of Russian military production.
The orders are worth tens of billions of dollars, the Russian president also noted.
According to the Russian Center for Analysis of the World Arms Trade (CCAMTO), last year Moscow sold weapons worth $13.75 billion, surpassed only by the United States with a result of $42.3 billion. In third place is France with $7.7 billion, South Korea and Italy are the rest of the top five with about $5.7 billion.
In 2024, Russia has generally fulfilled its obligations for the export of weapons, Putin added, emphasizing that "in a number of cases, decisions were made with foreign partners that satisfied both sides, and the forms and methods of interaction were adjusted quickly and efficiently".
