Turkey has banned all public images and videos of former Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, intensifying a political battle that has sparked protests and shaken investor confidence, Bloomberg reported, citing news18.
Earlier this month, Turkish authorities blocked Imamoglu's account on the social network X, where he had nearly 10 million followers.
Imamoglu has established himself as one of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's most serious rivals for the 2028 presidential election.
The former Istanbul mayor was arrested in March on corruption charges. He denied the charges and said the arrest was aimed at excluding him from the presidential race.
