Kiev’s massive attack with FPV drones against military airfields in Russian cities will not prevent Russia from continuing its offensive on Ukrainian territory, The New York Times writes.
The newspaper emphasizes that an attack will not force Russia to reduce its offensive operations.
American officials also told the publication that they expect a “significant retaliatory strike“ from the Russian armed forces.
On June 1, Ukraine successfully carried out Operation Spiderweb, in which FPV drone strikes were carried out against military airfields in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions. The attacks in the Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions were repelled by the Russian Air Defense.
However, according to Kiev, more than 40 combat aircraft, including a significant part of Russia's strategic bombers, were destroyed near Irkutsk.
Moscow denies that there were any deaths in the strikes, but claims that some of the participants in the "terrorist acts" have been captured.
