It is still not clear exactly which buildings were hit on the sixth day of the war between Iran and Israel. Reuters cited the Israel Defense Forces as saying they were attacking military sites in Tehran.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said earlier in a statement read by a television host that his country would not accept U.S. President Donald Trump's call for unconditional surrender, Reuters reported.
In his first statement since Friday, when he gave a televised speech in response to the Israeli airstrike, Khamenei said today that neither peace nor war could be imposed on the Islamic Republic.
"Intelligent people who know Iran, the Iranian people and their history never speak to this people in threatening language because the Iranian people do not surrender," he stressed. "Americans should know that any American military intervention will undoubtedly be accompanied by irreparable damage," Khamenei added.
Thousands of people fled Tehran on Monday after Israeli warplanes bombed the Iranian capital overnight, Reuters reported. Trump, for his part, is considering joining Israel in airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites. According to the Israeli military, 50 Israeli aircraft struck about 20 Iranian targets overnight, including facilities for the production of raw materials, components and missile production systems.
