Israeli security forces have arrested over 60 people linked to "Hamas" during a major counterterrorism operation in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), the Shin Bet internal security service and the Israeli police announced, quoted by the TPS agency, BTA reports.
The operation uncovered terrorist plans, weapons caches and underground infrastructure used by "Hamas". According to the Shin Bet, intelligence obtained during interrogations has allowed for additional arrests and the dismantling of at least ten terrorist cells, mainly in the Hebron area.
“This is the largest Shin Bet strike in Judea and Samaria in the last ten years“, said a senior counterintelligence official.
22 firearms, 11 grenades and a significant amount of ammunition were seized during the operation. An underground hideout used to store weapons and hide wanted members of the organization was also discovered.
Some of the detainees are linked to bloody attacks from previous years. One of them took part in the August 31, 2010, attack near Hebron, in which four people were killed. Another is accused of supplying weapons for an attack carried out in November 2023. in the Jerusalem area.
Israeli services emphasize that the operation has dealt a serious blow to the infrastructure and operational capacity of "Hamas" in the West Bank.
