Iran has the right to enrich uranium and does not plan to stop this activity. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic to the UN Amir Saeed Eravani in an interview with the American television channel CBS.
As the diplomat emphasized, uranium enrichment activities are an “inalienable right“ of Iran, according to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. "And we want to exercise that right," Iravani explained.
"I think enrichment will never be stopped," he added, responding to a question about whether Tehran intends to resume uranium enrichment.
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi earlier noted in an interview with CBS that Iran has retained some components of its nuclear program and could resume uranium enrichment within a few months.
According to him, Iran "had and still has to some extent the capacity to process, convert and enrich uranium" at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. Grossi added that these facilities have been "largely destroyed" but "something remains."
