Supreme Court confirms results of presidential election in Poland - 1

The Supreme Court of Poland announced last night that it had confirmed the results of the presidential election in June, won by the nationalist candidate, despite numerous challenges, AFP reported, quoted by BTA.

The Supreme Court "has ruled on the validity of the election of Karol Tadeusz Nawrocki as president of the Republic of Poland," announced Judge Krzysztof Wiak at the end of a session of the court chamber responsible for deciding whether the election is valid or not.

Supported by the opposition party "Law and Justice" (PiS), historian Karol Nawrocki won the second round of the presidential election in Poland on June 1 with 50.89 percent of the vote. The candidate nominated by the ruling "Civil Coalition" - the mayor of the capital Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, remained with 49.11 percent.
