A total of 29 fires have broken out in the last 24 hours on the territory of Albania, with two of them still active at the moment, the Albanian National Agency “Civil Protection“ reported, quoted by ATA, BTA reports.
Fires were registered in the municipalities of Tirana, Elbasan, Finich, Vlora, Selenica, Durres, Lezha, Fier, Kamza, Dropul, Libohova and others. According to the agency, approximately 18 hectares of forests and pastures have burned.
Currently, extinguishing activities continue at a landfill in the Elbasan region, where the fire is not fully contained, as well as at a forest fire near the village of Gradjan in the municipality of Finich. The fire in this area is significantly limited.
The operation to extinguish the fires involves 64 fire trucks, over 250 firefighters, as well as dozens of personnel and equipment from the Albanian Armed Forces.
For today, the authorities have declared a “high risk of fires“ for almost all regions of the country.
