Iranian MP Esmail Kosari said that a possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz was still under review but no decision had been made, in comments carried by Iranian state media and quoted by "Reuters".
"Military measures on the Strait of Hormuz have been completed, but a decision has not yet been made on it (closing it) and the issue is still under consideration," Kosari, a member of the Iranian parliament's national security committee, was quoted as saying.
It was not clear what military measures he might have in mind.
The possibility of Iran closing the waterway through which about a fifth of the world's oil and gas supplies, was speculated during the 12-day air war between Israel and Iran last month.
The strait lies between Oman and Iran and connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman to the south and the Arabian Sea beyond.
Iran has threatened to close it for years but has never carried out that threat.
"We decide when it is open and when it will be closed; we are currently reviewing it and can implement it when necessary," Kosari added.
