Russia has launched large-scale naval exercises involving over 150 ships, 120 aircraft and 15,000 servicemen. The maneuvers are taking place in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, as well as in the Baltic and Caspian Seas, reports "Reuters", citing the Russian Defense Ministry, News.bg reports.
The exercise, called “July Storm“, is being held from July 23 to 27 and aims to test the fleet's readiness for non-standard combat operations, the use of long-range weapons, drones and modern technologies.
According to official information, the ship crews will practice deployment in combat zones, anti-submarine operations, protection of economic activity zones, as well as repelling attacks with air weapons, enemy drones and unmanned boats. Participants will also practice hitting targets and ensuring the safety of shipping.
The maneuvers also involve 10 coastal missile systems, and the leadership of the operation is entrusted to the head of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev.
Although Russia continues to maintain the third largest navy in the world after the United States and China, it has suffered serious losses during the war in Ukraine, military analysts note.
