If you observe the processes, you would notice the strong hybrid attack regarding Bulgaria's admission to the eurozone. This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to journalists after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recan, reported by BTA. Zhelyazkov answered a question about how Bulgaria opposes disinformation campaigns. We are sure and have data on Russian participation in this, he also said. According to him, similar methods - of disinformation - are also used in relation to the Bulgarian community in Taraclia, mainly with an impact through language. That is why we want the Bulgarians in Taraclia to speak more Bulgarian and that is why our efforts are focused on education, he added.
In this respect, we are very similar to Moldova, because both countries were in the Soviet orbit for decades - Moldova as a Soviet republic, but Bulgaria, at one time as a candidate for a Soviet republic, and all the time as the most loyal ally of the Soviet Union and within the framework of the CMEA and the Warsaw Pact, added Prime Minister Zhelyazkov. Russia's influence goes through these traditional understandings of which countries should be part of the Russian world and which country has its so-called reserved rights over the right of other countries to national self-determination. I am sure that in both Bulgaria and Moldova there is a semi-hybrid influence, Zhelyazkov added. This, on the one hand, is political influence - through official public entities - parties or individuals and their synchronized positions with the positions of Russia, and on the other - the impact of creating distrust in Bulgaria's choice for full membership in the EU and NATO, and in the path taken by Moldova.
