London admits: Russian troops are tightening the noose around Pokrovsk

Russian ground forces are intensifying their attempts to surround Pokrovsk, a Ukrainian logistics center that supports operations in the Donbas. This is stated in an intelligence review by the British Ministry of Defense dated August 2, Ukrainskaya Pravda reports, quoted by FOKUS.

Over the past week, British analysts note, Russian troops have achieved gradual successes in the northeastern part of Pokrovsk, trying to bypass and cut off its logistics routes and ground lines of communication.

They have advanced west in the area of the H-32 highway, in particular in the direction of Rodinskoye, through which the main northern supply route to Pokrovsk passes. Russian troops have also captured territory south of the highway, advancing in the Mirolyubovka area.

Open sources on July 22, 2025 reported attempts by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to penetrate the southern part of Pokrovsk, after which Ukrainian forces conducted operations to clear the territory.

Pokrovsk has been a priority target for Russia since February 2024, when it captured Avdiivka. Russian efforts against the fortified town cost Russia heavy losses in manpower and equipment.
