According to reports from the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a secondary earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 was recorded in Kamchatka at 03:44 Bulgarian time, 149 kilometers from the regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Earlier, the director of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Danila Chebrov, reported that after a powerful earthquake in Kamchatka, strong but non-destructive aftershocks are expected. The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on Monday that in the past 24 hours after the strong earthquake in Kamchatka, seven noticeable aftershocks were recorded, out of a total of more than 85.
On July 30, the most powerful earthquake for the entire period of observation occurred off the coast of Kamchatka: its magnitude reached 8.8 on the Richter scale. The Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring recorded a tsunami wave up to four meters high in the region.
A wall collapsed in one of the kindergartens, but fortunately there was no one there at the time of the incident. Severo-Kurilsk in the Sakhalin region was flooded, and a state of emergency was declared there. According to the regional Ministry of Health, there are injuries, but everyone is in satisfactory condition.
