Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called on his compatriots to dialogue and mutual respect this evening with a post on one of his official profiles on the "Instagram" platform, BTA reported.
"We must listen, speak and at the same time show respect for each other in every place", Vucic said in the video uploaded there.
According to him, it is very important for Serbs to "remember the lesson that I thought everyone had already learned", he added.
"And that is - when we change things with force, when we use violence, we must know very well that this will always come back badly for us in the future", Vucic continued.
He stated that the authorities must is replaced after elections are held, and anyone running for office must earn the people's trust through "work, diligence, dedication and commitment".
In the video, Vučić told an abstract story about a young man who criticizes the ruling party and calls for its removal through violence, and the story was illustrated with a black-and-white animation.
Vučić made the video post on his "Instagram" account tonight amid a new phase in the 9-month-old anti-government protests, in which citizens and students have gathered in front of the private homes of government members and other senior administrators and representatives of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, chanting demands for new parliamentary elections.
On November 1, 2024, a railway station canopy collapsed in Novi Sad, killing 16 people and seriously injuring another. After the incident, a wave of social discontent erupted with anti-corruption demands, students blocked over 60 faculties and led mass protests, which became the biggest challenge in Aleksandar Vučić's political career.
