The United States has committed to holding consultations with its European partners before the meeting scheduled for Friday, August 15, between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced at a press conference, quoted by “Reuters“, reports News.bg.
Tusk did not specify at what level the talks would take place, but noted that there were “a lot of concerns and a lot of hope“ on the upcoming dialogue between Washington and Moscow.
Bloomberg earlier reported that a number of European leaders want to talk to Trump before his meeting with Putin to coordinate positions on key issues, including the situation in Ukraine.
The Polish prime minister reiterated that decisions regarding Ukraine and its territories should not be made without the participation of Kiev.
On Monday, August 11, the foreign ministers of the EU countries and the Ukrainian first diplomat Andriy Szybiga will hold an extraordinary meeting on the eve of the meeting between Trump and Putin.
