US President Donald Trump said he has ruled out the possibility of deploying US troops to Ukraine but added that the US could provide air support as part of a deal to end Russia's war in the country, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
A day after Trump pledged security guarantees to help end the war at an emergency summit at the White House, the path to peace remains unclear as the US and its allies work to clarify what military support for Ukraine can be provided.
"When it comes to security, (the Europeans) are ready to send troops on the ground. "We're prepared to help them with a variety of things, especially, probably... by air," Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
Trump did not elaborate. Later, in an interview with radio host Mark Levin, Trump described his negotiating style in trying to end the war as "probably more of an instinct than a process."
Hours after Zelensky's meetings in Washington, Russia launched its largest airstrike in more than a month against Ukraine, launching 270 drones and 10 missiles, the Ukrainian air force said. The Energy Ministry said the strikes had caused major fires at energy facilities in the central Poltava region, home to Ukraine's only oil refinery.
