Milen Keremedchiev: The main topic here is what guarantees Russia and Ukraine will receive in order to sit at the negotiating table

"The territorial dispute is extremely important. Trump reached agreements with Putin, but transferred responsibilities to Zelensky. If the Ukrainian president accepts what was agreed upon for the territories, he will be accused of betraying Ukrainian interests. If he rejects, he will be accused of continuing the war. The situation is difficult enough for Zelensky," Lyubomir Kyuchukov also commented

Presidents do not meet to quarrel. In order for there to be a meeting between Zelensky and Putin, agreements must be specified. This was stated to BNT by Lyubomir Kyuchukov, former Deputy Foreign Minister, quoted by novini.bg. International analyst Milen Keremedchiev specified: „We see another reprieve that Trump is giving Putin. We are talking about freezing the conflict, not about its complete cessation. The main topic here is what guarantees the two sides will receive in order to be satisfied and sit down at the negotiating table. The negotiations may drag on for years. As long as there are no security guarantees, the fighting will not stop.“

“The place of the meeting is a secondary issue, although an important one. There is a serious limiting line - the ICC arrest warrant for Putin. What is important is what will happen, not so much where“, is Kyuchukov's opinion.
According to Keremedchiev, the question is how much Putin wants to meet with Zelensky: “He continues to support the thesis that the president of Ukraine is not a legitimate president. If a document is signed, it may have no legal value. However, there is no Ukrainian president who would sign a decree giving 20% to Russia, there could be a civil war in such a scenario.”

„The territorial dispute is extremely important. Trump reached agreements with Putin, but transferred responsibilities to Zelensky. If the Ukrainian president accepts what was agreed upon regarding the territories, he will be accused of betraying Ukrainian interests. If he rejects, he will be accused of continuing the war. The situation is difficult enough for Zelensky. We are mainly talking about the territories of one region - Donetsk,” added Kyuchukov.
