International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday that the first team of inspectors has returned to Iran.
"We are in talks with the Iranian authorities. "Now the first group of IAEA inspectors have returned to Iran and we are preparing to resume inspections," he said.
Iranian officials have previously said there would be no third parties mediating in the talks between the two countries, insisting that relations would remain "direct."
The Islamic Republic suspended nuclear talks with the United States, aimed at curbing its accelerating enrichment program, after the United States and Israel bombed its nuclear facilities during a 12-day war in June.
IAEA inspectors have not been allowed access to Iran's nuclear facilities since then, although IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said inspections remained essential.
Iran denies ever trying to create nuclear weapons.
