Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he held meaningful talks with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during his visit to the western Ukrainian city of Uzhgorod today, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
“It is important that we have this dialogue. We will continue it“, Zelensky said, quoted by Ukrainian media.
Earlier, the Slovak news agency TASR noted that this was Fico's first bilateral meeting with Zelensky in Ukraine. The results of the meeting are expected to be presented by the two leaders later at a joint press conference.
The Slovak delegation in Uzhgorod includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Sakova and Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar, while Zelensky is accompanied by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.
Fico met with Zelensky shortly after returning from China, where he held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. Following his meeting with Putin, Fico announced that he would raise the issue of Ukrainian attacks on oil infrastructure with Zelensky.
I had a substantive discussion with the Prime Minister of Slovakia @RobertFicoSVK. We covered key topics — matters of principle for Ukraine and matters of principle for Slovakia.
