The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is involved in preparing a coup d'état in the country, Georgia Online reports, quoted by FOCUS.
"As for the possible connection with the internal political events unfolding in the country, in particular with the announced "overthrow", you see that the opposition is completely desperate, it is weakened and this is the main reason. "At such times, any provocation is possible," Kobakhidze said, commenting on the alleged SBU involvement in the import of explosives into Georgia.
He added that this issue requires special attention.
According to Kobakhidze, any such fact must be fully investigated, and in Georgia "it must be established who needed to bring unrest into the country."
"Focus" recalls that on September 11, the Georgian State Security Service (GSS) announced that it had detained two Ukrainians who wanted to transport 2.4 kg of hexogen (an explosive substance) to Georgian territory.
According to the version of the Georgian services, a Mercedes-Benz truck with Ukrainian license plates arrived in Georgia from Turkey, traveling along a route from Ukraine through Romania and Bulgaria. The hexogen was found in hidden and well-camouflaged compartments.
Today, September 12, the Georgian Security Service stated that the explosives were handed over to the Ukrainians by the Security Service of Ukraine.
