„The process has been going on for 48 years for the construction of a National Children's Hospital. For the last 35 years, nothing has been done about this issue. Our plans are for it to open its doors in August 2028.
This was stated to NOVA NEWS by Dr. Vlatko Gligorov – director of the Health Investment Company for the construction of a children's hospital.
In his words, he has undertaken to implement this process in 48 months. “At the moment we do not know exactly what the hospital will look like. The consultants who advise us - a Belgian-Spanish consortium, have many sites in the world, they have an idea of how it should look, explained Gligorov.
The same experts previously consulted the teams for the children's hospital in Burgas, “Saint Anastasia”, he explained and added that it is also under construction. They have experience with our Bulgarian legislation. “At the moment I cannot answer the question of what the rooms will look like, what the height will be, whether there will be beds for parents, whether there will be hotels for parents”, explained Dr. Gligorov. The EIB's report on the hospital will be published by January 15, added Dr. Gligorov.
