Flu vaccines are available in the pharmacy network. This was announced on their Facebook profile by “Plus me“ - the information platform of the Ministry of Health on the benefits of vaccines.
According to the information on the platform, influenza vaccines are indicated for immunization in children aged six months and are given by injection.
Influenza vaccination is recommended for people with chronic diseases - diabetes, heart diseases, lung diseases, etc., regardless of age, for patients on hemodialysis, for immunosuppressed patients, patients with organ transplants, Nova TV stated. It is desirable to immunize against influenza those living in organized collectives - homes for medical and social care, military units, dormitories, etc., as well as people for whom there is an increased risk of infection due to their profession (transport workers, army employees and the police, medical personnel, etc.).
For everyone who is in contact with people exposed to an increased risk of complications after an influenza illness - family members, including children, staff of medical, health and social institutions, it is also recommended to be vaccinated.
The free anti-influenza vaccines, which are provided under the National Program for the Improvement of Vaccination Prevention against seasonal influenza and pneumococcal infections for persons aged 65 and over, will be administered to patients from October. Immunizations will be carried out by general practitioners.
A flu vaccine can be given at the same time as a vaccine against COVID-19, and the two vaccines are injected in different places, added by “Plus Me”.
On September 11, the immunization campaign against COVID-19 for the autumn-winter season 2024/2025 began. The administration of the new vaccines is free, and immunizations are carried out in the offices of regional health inspectorates or at general practitioners.
In Bulgaria, 84,960 doses of mRNA vaccines against the new JN.1 variant of SARS-CoV-2 have been delivered and distributed, of which 80,640 doses are intended for immunization of people aged 12 and over, and the rest close four thousand doses are for children from six months to 11 years of age. The vaccine against JN.1 of SARS-CoV-2 can be administered alone, regardless of whether there is a relapse and previous vaccinations. It is administered in a single dose, with the exception of children under the age of five, who, if they have not had an illness or have not been vaccinated to date, are immunized with three doses.
