Lyudmil Iliev: GERB is no longer pulling the strings of the party system and Peevski knows it

As a civil society, we must finally wake up and enter the institutions as citizens, to use the tools that the rule of law gives us

The general public is in no way concerned about what is happening in the state, and we live in a time when the way the world functions is clearly being rearranged.

This opinion was expressed to the Bulgarian National Radio by journalist Lyudmil Iliev from "Sega", who is a parliamentary reporter.

As a civil society, we must finally wake up and enter the institutions as citizens, to use the tools that the rule of law gives us. If we are not active, the status quo may be consolidated, the breaking of which is the main task of Bulgarian society, he believes.

In his words, we must stop a decades-long process in which the state is becoming plutocratic, and even if Peevski and Borisov are gone, this will not dramatically change the direction of the country.

Peevski is turning appearances into realities for the audience, and his self-confidence is growing by the hour, which causes the irritation of his closest political ally. In order to break this alliance, GERB needs a position of strength that it no longer has, and Peevski is aware of this, the journalist pointed out in the program "Politically Incorrect".

"GERB is no longer able to pull the strings of the party system. Mr. Peevski thinks he can behave however he wants with this government. Borisov has little choice but to try to play the role of the wise political elder. He does not have the political opportunity to break up this alliance, even if he wanted to. This government works for both of them, they are a tandem – they have been working as such for years and this is obvious to everyone."

The vote of no confidence was supposed to show us a viable alternative to the government, but it failed, Iliev stressed. He warned that the opposition could start to look helpless.
