From October 13 to 15, Vice President Iliana Yotova will visit Beijing, where she will represent Bulgaria at the World Leadership Summit for Women. The forum “Shared Future: A New and Accelerated Process for the All-Around Development of Women“ is organized by China and UN Women and is on the occasion of the Beijing Declaration on the Rights of Women and Platform for Action adopted by 189 governments 30 years ago. The meeting in the Chinese capital is also taking place in the 80th anniversary year of the United Nations, dariknews.bg indicated.
In 1995, the Fourth UN World Conference on Women was held in Beijing - a significant step in the global progress for gender equality. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action adopted at that time are the basis for a number of documents on a global scale for the rights of the fairer sex.
Within the framework of the forum, Vice President Yotova will present Bulgaria's progress in equality policies, as well as the challenges related to the dynamic development of artificial intelligence.
During her visit, Yotova will hold a meeting with Vice President of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng. She will also be a guest at Beijing Foreign Studies University, where the specialty "Bulgarian Studies" has been taught since 1961. This year, over 30 students are studying in the specialty. The Vice President will talk with the rector of Beijing Foreign Studies University Jia Wenjian and with students of "Bulgarian Studies". On behalf of President Rumen Radev, Yotova will award the Order of "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" first degree to Prof. Ma Sipu in recognition of his great contribution to the popularization of Bulgarian history, language and culture. Prof. Ma Sipu graduated from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski“, his research interests include the Balkan countries. Together with his graduates, the distinguished Chinese Bulgarian scholar is publishing a two-volume Bulgarian-Chinese and Chinese-Bulgarian dictionary.
The Vice President's program also includes a visit to the China Media Group and its Bulgarian editorial office.
