The European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen will visit Bulgaria and Romania on October 27 and 28 for talks related to the construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor. This was reported by BTA correspondent Nikolay Zhelyazkov, quoted by dariknews.bg.
Jorgensen will be in our country on Tuesday for meetings with ministers from the countries, part of the project aimed at increasing energy security and diversifying gas supplies in Central and Southeastern Europe.
A day earlier in Romania, Jorgensen will participate in a ministerial meeting of the High-Level Group on Energy Connectivity of Central and Southeastern Europe. The meeting is on the occasion of negotiations on the gradual elimination of fossil fuel imports from Russia. The participants will discuss how to make energy prices more affordable, the statement said.
Commissioner Jørgensen will meet with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolozhan and Romanian Energy Minister Ivan Bogdan-Gruia, as well as representatives of local structures related to energy development.
The Vertical Gas Corridor is an initiative of Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Moldova. Its construction is supported by the EC. Two projects have been developed to increase capacities in the south-north direction for the transmission of gas (including liquefied gas) from Greece through Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova, with the possibility of reaching Ukraine.
