The signals we are receiving are more than worrying. The budget and the comments around it show that the president was right when he wanted to ask through a referendum whether we are ready for the introduction of the euro. This was stated by Vice President Iliana Yotova to Nova TV.

"Yesterday, the Fiscal Council admitted that the figures were manipulated when we requested the convergence reports. Our deficit is much more serious than presented. Let us ask ourselves the question: who are we lying to? All the consequences fall on the Bulgarians. I hope that in the coming days we will hear what kind of economy Bulgaria will have, so far there are only accounting tables," Yotova added.

In her words, when reaching a decision on higher social security contributions, there must be clarity about where the revenues from them will go. "There are various explanations for why the budget was delayed so much, but we all expected that since it is the first in the euro, it should have been ready long ago. It should have been presented already and subjected to a broad public discussion, which should not take place only in the ruling coalition. When the majority does not comply with the laws, this is a signal of a severe crisis. A maneuver was made for the minimum wage, it was also theater, they knew that they had to comply with the law, but they preferred to show themselves as magnanimous. Obviously, our treasury needs a lot of funds, the hole is getting bigger. Bulgaria is facing a debt crisis if it continues in the same spirit," the vice president commented.

Yotova also commented on the re-adopted DAR and DATO Law - their chairmen will be appointed and dismissed by the National Assembly. "It is the president's decision whether to refer these issues to the Constitutional Court. I don't know of any other country that introduces a bill with the name of a specific person. This is a political decision in order to secure the elections next year," the vice president believes.
