Citizens protested on the road to the Republic Pass. The protesters demand the preservation of the Bulgarian lev and the immediate resignation of the government, BNT reports. The organizers define the action as civil disobedience in defense of the country's national sovereignty and economic independence. There is a strong police and gendarmerie presence on site. Shortly before the start of the demonstration, tension arose between the protesters and the gendarmerie, after people were not allowed to stand on the roadway. When they tried to cross, they were pushed away by the police. Several gendarmerie officers were injured.
