The mayor of the Pavliken village of Duskot, Nikolay Mitev, was beaten up in the town hall by an offender, for whom he had drawn up a report for illegally dumped construction and household waste, Bulgarian National Radio reported.

The mayor of Duskot carried out an inspection today at noon after a report was filed for illegal dumping of large amounts of garbage at the landfill for biodegradable waste on the outskirts of the village. Nikolay Mitev found a van with workers on site who were illegally unloading old furniture, household items and construction waste, given that there is a construction waste landfill in the Pavlikeni municipality, but fees are paid for it.

"A conflict has arisen. A report has been drawn up. Then the owner of the van sought an explanation from the city hall and a brawl broke out, the mayor was hit. Apparently, old houses are being bought, emptied and restoration is being started with the aim of selling them," said the mayor of the Pavlikeni municipality, Emanuil Manolov.

The former mayor of Daskot, Nikolay Mitev, has undertaken an examination by a forensic doctor in Veliko Tarnovo. A police officer witnessed the incident at the city hall.

For the illegally disposed waste, the offender will be fined, which according to the municipal ordinance in Pavlikeni, is from 150 to 500 leva.
