Boris Bonev asked the CPC to check the Sofia garbage procurement due to suspicions of a cartel

According to "Save Sofia", if real competition between companies is not ensured, the risk is that Sofia will once again remain in the hands of the same players who have been providing low-quality services for a high price for years.

„When there are suspicions of a cartel and the public procurement is for almost 1 billion leva, any delay is a risk for Sofia. I expect the Commission for the Protection of Competition to show that it works in the interest of the citizens, not the companies that have been dividing the city into zones and agreements for years.“ This was stated by Boris Bonev, chairman of "Save Sofia", regarding the lack of reaction from the CPC more than a month after he submitted a signal about a potential cartel between the companies applying for garbage collection and cleaning of the capital.

From "Save Sofia" recall that the order is among the largest in the history of the Municipality and is of key importance for the quality of services that affect the daily lives of millions of Sofia residents.

„The new composition of the CPC must prove that it is an independent and responsible body that protects the public interest. We all expect the institutions to act quickly and decisively, because the stakes are too high“, stressed Bonev.

According to "Save Sofia", if real competition between companies is not ensured, the risk is that Sofia will once again remain in the hands of the same players who have been providing low-quality services for a high price for years. „We cannot allow the city to continue paying millions for poor-quality garbage collection and inefficient waste management. "Therefore, we insist on a full inspection of all participants and the conditions of the procedure," the party added.

"Save Sofia" will continue to insist on transparency, real competition and effective control over public procurement in the capital.
