Radev: Business achieves success when democracy does not degenerate into oligarchy

The Head of State attends the ceremony of the "Manager of the Year" competition

"In Bulgaria, business is increasingly being developed by leaders with high professionalism, who have mastered the science of management and the art of leadership, but who are above all patriots, patriots with an active civic position, with a mission dedicated to making people and the environment better" - this was stated by President Rumen Radev at the official ceremony of the 18th edition of the "Manager of the Year" competition.

The event, which honored entrepreneurs who create, implement and promote good management practices in Bulgaria, took place last night in the building of the Sofia Opera and Ballet. The Head of State presented the award in the main category, as “Manager of the Year” for 2025 became Dina Temelkova - Executive Director of "Telelink Infra Services" EAD.

In his greeting to the finalists and participants in the competition, the head of state noted that the success of business leaders who have a vision not only for the future of their business, but also of our country, acquires greater value against the backdrop of a number of challenges - profound changes in the geopolitical plan, in the global economy, the rapid penetration of artificial intelligence. According to the president, the achievements of Bulgarian entrepreneurs are even more important given the fact that they compete on the global market with successful companies that have the opportunity to develop in a more favorable environment for doing business.

“Success follows those societies that fight for democracy and when they achieve it, do not allow it to degenerate into oligarchy. "Success is where the state is a partner of business, public resources are used to develop human capital and scientific and technological progress, and not to consolidate power," the head of state said.

President Radev added that great achievements are achieved by companies developing in countries where the rules apply to everyone, private property and investments are protected, and societies have fought for freedom and justice - mandatory conditions for sustainable economic growth. In a slightly different environment than this one, at least for now, business leaders in Bulgaria are not just surviving, but are reaping success, which is worthy of respect, said Rumen Radev.

As an example of the attitude of the Bulgarian authorities towards business, the president pointed to the way the draft state budget for 2026 is prepared, presented and communicated. "I believe that despite the challenges that Bulgarian business faces today, our country will continue to both produce and export more and better quality products, so that business is more innovative, more sustainable and competitive", said Rumen Radev during the ceremony.
