Rumen Petkov: If Lukoil had not received a derogation, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary would have been ruined

We have lost cheap and guaranteed Russian gas, we are not making a move on nuclear energy, which does not inspire much perspective and optimism

We had an extremely successful visit together with MP Galin Durev and our expert Iliyan Sarandaliev in Moscow, and I must proudly say that we were received at the highest level. This was said in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the World in Focus" on Radio "Focus" by Rumen Petkov – chairman of the political party ABV, coalition partner in "BSP-United Left".

The guest also indicated that the Bulgarian MPs had a conversation with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Dmitry Lyubinsky, with Leonid Slutsky – the chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, Nikolai Shulginov – the chairman of the Energy Committee, as well as that a meeting was held with the Historical Society of the Russian Federation. According to him, the issues that were discussed were both about the relations between the two countries and about the problems related to energy.

"We have lost cheap and guaranteed Russian gas, we are not making a move on nuclear energy, which does not inspire much perspective and optimism,“ said Petkov and added that the talks expressed concern about the law on "Lukoil", which does not provide for judicial and administrative control over the actions of the special managers.

"One sounded, to put it more delicately – hint that Russia may take measures against our companies in Russia, appoint special managers to them and essentially respond reciprocally.“

The leader of ABV expressed the opinion that US President Donald Trump is behaving like insurance companies VIS since the dawn of democracy in our country. According to Petkov, there should have been a much stronger and more categorical reaction to the “brutal impudent approach of the US, and there should be clear opposition from the international community and from the European institutions.“

“With such a blow to “Lukoil“ and “Rosneft“, we will actually ruin Europe and the region. Germany will quickly prepare for the derogation of Rosneft on German territory. Serbia will be doomed to misery. If “Lukoil“ "had not received a derogation, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary would have been ruined," said the guest and pointed out that this European Commission has reduced us to the level of a spectator and "not always a desirable interlocutor in talks at the highest level on a global scale".
