Construction to be halted near the Boyana Swamp for days. The Mayor of the "Vitosha" district; Zarko Klinkov has sent a report of findings to the "Architecture and Urban Planning" department for opinions on the case from the Regional Inspectorate for Environment, Water and Water and the Basin Directorate.
If these opinions are not submitted - an order to halt construction will be issued within 7 days. However, the investors are hoping to the last that this will not happen and are continuing work on the site, BNT reported.
In the picture, the future complex in the "Boyana" district looks boutique, green and neat. However, there are uninhabited buildings on site, which flood even with the slightest rain. And while they have a status, the current construction can be stopped.
The Mayor of Vitosha District - Zarko Klinkov is the competent authority, after the joint inspection and after the violations established that a river ravine is being corrected without a construction permit, he must immediately impose a ban on further construction for this site. This was recalled by Vesselin Tonchev from the association "Protection of the Boyana Swamp".
The moment we have approval, I appear at this desk and sign it, the protocol is for presenting opinions from the Regional Inspectorate for Environment, Water and Water and the Basin Directorate for the site, in the absence of such opinions within 7 days, we proceed to issue an order under Art. 224 of the ZUT, which is to stop construction with immediate effect, the mayor of "Vitosha" described the procedure Zarko Klinkov.
Sofian residents protest against the development of the Boyana Marsh
This could lead to critical flooding in the neighborhoods of "Boyana", "Manastirski livadi", "Pavlovo"
The river ravines are public state property and cannot be developed. The regional mayor also insists on changing the purpose of the terrain of the marsh itself, which is currently designated for construction.
Both citizens, the "Protection of the Boyana Marsh" association, and the Vitosha region want the last natural wetland in Sofia to be improved and turned into a place for recreation.
Over 130 species of birds are found there, 17 of which are included in the Red Book of Bulgaria.
