The forecasts for a White Christmas have come true. Snowfall almost throughout the country. Heavy snowfall is the cause of power outages in some parts of Northwestern Bulgaria. A crisis headquarters has been established, 150 teams with over 300 employees are working in the field.
The goal of "Electrohold" is to have no settlements without snow by nightfall.
Snowy Christmas - joy for some, problems for others. The winter situation in Northwestern Bulgaria is the most serious. In Montana district, households in the municipalities of Georgi Damyanovo, Lom, Varshets and Berkovitsa are without electricity. In the villages of Georgi Damyanovo and Genovo, the power supply has been cut off dozens of times, and in Diva Slatina, Govezhda and Dalgi del, power was out all day.
Mayors and the regional governor of Montana have received assurances from the electricity distribution company that there will be power in all settlements this evening. The heavy snowfall has also left settlements in the Vratsa region without power.
"The snow cover is approximately between 10 and 15 centimeters. Everywhere the problem is the same: broken wires from the layering of snow cover on the wires between the power lines. Thank God that no large power lines have been cut off - only the 20-kilovolt ones have problems with the wires at the moment, but they are also easier to fix. One of the emergency teams is stuck between Kolata and Nessel, and we have sent an excavator to assist the team's activities, and by assistance we mean to pull it out of the field in which it is stuck", shared Nikolay Nikolov - regional governor of Vratsa.
Due to the heavy snowfall and strong winds in the Vidin region, there was a power outage in 5 municipalities since the morning - Makresh, Novo Selo, Gramada, Dimovo and Kula.
"Currently, there is only one municipality - individual settlements are currently without power, but it will be restored within the day. At the moment, there are no people in distress in the territory of Vidin region, but due to the heavy wet snow and fallen trees, the power lines have been cut off. Otherwise, from 2:00 a.m. at night, the teams have been working, and the roads in the region are being processed," said Ani Harutyunyan - regional governor of Vidin.
And in the late afternoon, a truck with Turkish registration turned around at a narrowing on the Botevgrad - Mezdra road. Traffic in the area was difficult. The passes in the country are passable at this time.
