Two people have died in fires in the country in the last 24 hours, the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection (GDPBZN) reported, news.bg reported.
Five others were injured. Firefighters extinguished a total of 78 fires, with 30 of them causing material damage. 18 residential buildings burned.
An 83-year-old man died in a fire in a house on Druzhba Street in Chirpan. The incident was reported at 10:35 p.m. last night. The fire started from a short circuit.
A report of burning waste was also received on Rosario Street in the Student Town district of Sofia, next to the Technical University building. It was found on site that a car without license plates and waste next to it were burning on an area of about 20 sq m. A 58-year-old man was injured, with 6% burns. He was admitted to Pirogov Hospital without life-threatening injuries. The car was destroyed. The cause of the fire was the ignition of the car's interior due to the high-temperature effect of a solid fuel stove.
