Vasil Pandov: Radev should clearly name the problems and the people behind the corruption model if he wants to get suppo

The new election rules aim to repel Bulgarians abroad, believes the PP-DB representative

The target of these changes is not us, but Bulgarian citizens outside the European Union, who according to the Constitution have equal electoral rights. What the National Assembly did showed Bulgarians outside Bulgaria and outside the EU that they are not wanted.

This was stated by Vasil Pandov, a PP-DB MP, in the program “Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov” on NOVA NEWS.

According to Pandov, the changes are not directed against a specific political formation, but directly affect the right to vote of Bulgarian citizens abroad. He gave the example of the United Kingdom and the United States, where the drastic reduction of polling stations will make voting practically impossible for thousands of people.

“In a country like the United States, people may have to travel by plane to exercise their right to vote. With this number of voters, it will not even be physically possible for everyone to be able to vote within the framework of the election day”, Pandov warned.

According to him, the adopted law actually pushes Bulgarians abroad away from the electoral process and contradicts the Constitution, which guarantees equal rights to all Bulgarian citizens, regardless of where they are.

Vasil Pandov also commented on the political positions of the PP-DB after the statements of Asen Vassilev that the coalition will not govern with GERB, DPS-New Beginning and Rumen Radev. According to him, Bulgaria currently faces three possible paths of development – a strong Bulgaria in a strong Europe, a model of corruption and poverty, and a model of “knuckle-walking”, in which the country is formally part of the EU, but sabotages it.

“With Borisov and Peevski, we have repeatedly stated that we cannot govern. As for Radev - he must clearly name the problems and the people who stand behind the corruption model if he wants to receive support”, said Pandov.
He added that in his opinion it is still too early to draw conclusions whether the PP-DB is doomed to an opposition role in the next parliament.

“We have declared an ambition for a majority. Until there are answers to the key questions, it is too early to say what will happen”, said Pandov.
