Ivan Takov: We have a caretaker government of lobbyists of foreign interests

At the moment, the future of not just the BSP, but of the left in Bulgaria in general is at stake. We all see what the caretaker government is - a grotesque mixture of sedesism, right-wing NGOs and outright corporate lobbyists

We have a caretaker government of lobbyists of foreign interests, which aims to turn Bulgaria into a voiceless instrument. This was said by Ivan Takov, Chairman of the BSP - Sofia and Deputy Chairman of the BSP, to the delegates at the Second Session of the XV City Conference. The Chairman of the BSP Krum Zarkov is also present at the forum tonight. The conference is being held in the "Alexander Lilov" hall at the headquarters of the Socialists on "Positano" Str. No. 20, and one of the main items on the agenda is the arrangement of the lists of candidates for MPs in Sofia's 23rd, 24th and 25th MIR.

In his speech, Ivan Takov noted that it is precisely times of crisis that provide the best opportunities for change. "But for this, strong political support is needed - something that we currently lack. But it is also something that we should strive for", he said.

"At the moment, not only the future of the BSP is at stake, but also the left in Bulgaria in general. We all see what the caretaker government is - a grotesque mixture of sedsartism, right-wing NGOs and outspoken corporate lobbyists. What is more important in this case is that we are talking about a government that seems to have been made in a laboratory for neoliberal politics. We can guess who is behind this government and what its goals are. It, as usual, will have to carry out some dirty work for geopolitical and corporate masters. Our party cannot remain indifferent to such an arrogant demonstration of ideological perversion," Takov also said.

Ivan Takov was categorical that the state currently has a caretaker government of lobbyists of foreign interests, who are tasked with turning Bulgaria into a voiceless instrument.

"We hear that this was a government of the democratic community. If by democracy is meant corporate domination - maybe, he said. "Or it was pro-European, as if economic suicide through militarization is something very European. I categorically believe that if a person is left-wing - even more so, if he is a socialist, there is no way to accept such a government uncritically," he added.

Ivan Takov warned the delegates of the Conference that the right wing in Bulgaria has never been stronger, more arrogant and unforgiving: And all this given that the vast majority of Bulgarians want left-wing politics, he noted and continued: They want the rich to pay more taxes than the poor, education and healthcare to be accessible and developed, and not to be a commodity. The state to exercise control over the arbitrariness of big capital, and not to obey it. Our money should not go to foreign wars, but to development here, in our country.

The chairman of the BSP - Sofia was categorical that one thing is certain - the future of Bulgaria as a normal state is unthinkable without a strong socialist party."The BSP is not like that at the moment. Moreover, the future of our party is at stake in the upcoming elections, Ivan Takov admitted.

"Realizing this, at the Congress we tried to chart a new path - both in terms of individuals and in terms of the political platform. This political document aims to return the BSP to its ideological roots and social base. Through it, we categorically declare that the BSP has the will and readiness to invest all possible efforts and means for a qualitative change in Bulgaria and Bulgarian society towards a future in which Bulgarians are not hostages of the neoliberal model, subject to oligarchic capitalism. A future in which equality, security and the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of every person will be put first," the leader of the Sofia socialists also said.

Ivan Takov noted that in the upcoming election campaign, the power of comradeship will prove decisive.

"We all realize that some of our comrades will work for Rumen Radev's party. Not so much out of hope, but out of disappointment," he said.

"And instead of staring at this and getting angry with them, we should redouble our efforts and bring them back to us for the next elections. I am sure that this will happen. It may sound paradoxical, but I think that Radev's party is a chance for the BSP. Yes, he will win over a large part of the dissatisfied, but he will leave the field open to the left. From what Radev has shown so far, it is completely clear that in terms of the tax system and the role of the state in the economy, his positions do not differ from those of the right. Yes, he says that he will fight against inequalities. But this fight goes through a radical change in the tax system - such as only we propose. He says that he wants a strong economy, but he has nothing against privatization and concessions,", Takov also pointed out.

"Only the BSP, through its new platform, firmly stands behind the strong role of the state in the economy. I say all this not to slander Radev's future party, but to make it clear that the only left-wing party in Bulgaria at the moment is the BSP. And in this sense, the defense of the left goes through the defense of the BSP. I believe that in the upcoming elections we will achieve a result that we will be proud of. Not because it will be very high - let's be realistic. We will be proud because this result will be achieved selflessly, for the sake of ideals and despite all difficulties, he said.
